Data Backup is a subject which is often not given enough attention... Right up until the time when you urgently need to recover that key peice of business data which was lost due to operator error or system failure.

 

Likewise, if you suffered a major disaster with the computing equipment, how long would it take to rebuild your system from backup... Indeed do your backups contain all the information which will be needed to rebuild the system?

 

Whilst we cannot guarantee your equipment will never fail, and we cannot prevent mistakes on the part of errors, our goal is to ensure that you do not find yourself in this position without having a the necessary backup resource.

 

Regular managed backups of production data are a must; whether to local removeable media such as a tape, or to an Internet storage service. Beyond this you need to hold 'DR' backups of your entire infrastructure. Of course, you may not be able to make full backups every night, and you may say that you need more than 1 backup per day for the key data... But with careful analysis and management of these processes a workable solution can usually be supplied.

 

Using virtualisation technologies and internet connectivity, it is even possible to prepare DR versions of your production infrastructure, to update the data through the day and give you a hosted infrastructure with data no more than 15 minutes out of data, to be powered up in a datacenter for your use.
