Following the award of the contract, several meetings took place with the client to refine more specifically elements of the solution requirement. CMC developed a solution involving a Windows desktop application with rich user interface, SQL server database and a number of service applications. TBW devloped, in conjunction with CMC, an application to run on Dolphin rugged handheld computers running a DOS application and integrating a barcode scanner.

 

Following several iterative review meetings with the customer, the system was ready for customer deployment in late 2002, and after extensive trials it was put into production use in eary 2003. Since then a web based enquiry facility has been delivered and in 2011 the aging handheld computers were replaced by new rugged Honeywell devices running Windows Mobile and WiFi connections. This included development of a completely new mobile application to deliver the same functionality, and the migration to production use was seemless, even allowing new and old handhelds to operate concurrently.

 

As of 2011, CMC are in the closing stages of the bid process for a major system enhancement program at STH.
